times are a changing
It was a device like this that sent a man to the moon but now with smaller devices and more technology all we can do is walk around in a haze with a faces buried in a screen playing a game pretending to go to the moon. Computers have taken the jobs and we only have to click to get what we want and we only speak to others with the use of a keyboard and a mouse. Never speaking to a real human being. They even have a code to click on to prove you are human. Well, got to get back to my computer game. Been playing for 6 days now and I don't want to lose my place. Peace.

There's so much here. We start with Daly from "What's My Line?" switching us over to the "CBS Remote Unit", which gives us some old hurricane footage. We are assured that the new UNIVAC is "actually doing something" about weather!
We are shown the machine operating with spasmodically jerking tape reels and then printing out a dot-matrix weather forecast!
There are plenty of little things, like the Remington Rand logo in chrome on the machine (Makes it look like a 1950s refrigerator) and the gas powered snow shovel!

Loved this commercial. It's almost kind of sweet. Back in the days when they used vaccum tubes and stuff. Thanks for uploading it!

Really neat machines, indeed.

Amazing, rare stuff; love it.
I used to work on Univac Exec 1100 machines back in the 70s. A few applications are actually still running on Univac in the old telephone companies.

And you at home need to know this... why?
Okay, here we have this big, honkin' computer. It can compute things, as long as you give it plenty of time. See, we have specially trained hamsters running on specially calibrated wheels, so finding answers will take a bit of time. Kinda like trying to kill someone with a wiffle-ball bat.
But this is what we're doing at Remington Rand. Makes that shaver you bought from us seem mighty smart, huh?
